Black cars more likely to be involved in an accident
23 June 2010
A new report from Monash University in Australia has claimed that drivers of black cars are up to 47% more likely to be involved in a collision.
The study, which used data from the police amongst other sources, carried out over the course of 20 years also showed that whilst black may be the most dangerous colour - white, gold and yellow are amongst the safest choices.
The reasoning behind the figures is down to the ability of some colours to blend in with the road background. This is why colours which stand out, like white and yellow, are the safest choices as they immediately draw visibility to the car.
