Free residents parking to be taken over by Edinburgh Council

At Edinburgh Rental Car, we're the first people to warn our customers about the parking problems which plague Edinburgh. Whether it's the lack of spaces or the intense policing of the available spaces by the city's infamous traffic wardens, it seems that motorists just can't get a break.

In a move which is likely to greatly anger city residents, Edinburgh Council are making plans to take over private residential parking spaces at 17 private residential developments around the city in a move which will see them take the control of hundreds of parking spaces.

The council claim that the takeover is part of a plan to tighten up parking restrictions across the city and that property developers have been "misleading" buyers who thought they had paid for a private parking space along with their new home.

However, the move has angered residents who could now be forced to pay the council for a permit to park outside their own homes within a private development.
